Surprise
‘The Docks (Submerged)’ is slowly rolling out everywhere now
Featuring extended lyrics in a version I might never sing again
Even if I could
. . .
Two nights of vocal takes this mid-summer (Scratch vocals printed w/ AutoTune)
Turned near-three months of self-doubt ((For, of course we doubt our attempts to embody a self that we’re yet not))
And each time it came to retry
I couldn’t get the words out
Seeking a more perfect image of a feeling
Already felt
Fate follows my original plans of releasing some remixed versions of ‘The Docks’
(((Conceptualized destruction by collapse of two tracks marked for death, logged in water)))
Back then, just a week after
Burned out, I didn’t get there, but I’m here
On fire again and still learning when I
Had more to learn
But it’s just the path
Is my stubbornness against perfection my perfect act of rebellion?
How inauthentic I was to try
Re-striking the lightning after I felt it
I’m no Zeus
But I’ve been standing by for Kairos
((((And so, completely, hard on myself))))
I preach to love things as they are and as they come
Real emotion is often harsh / hurting worse when it’s raw
And I found myself in a state where it hurt to make it better;
There’s something there to say: releasing yourself from perfection or
Prison is
One and the same
Consider the title track a lost tape because the session file somehow got rewritten after this bounce
(((((Like recording over a wedding tape of old lovers, trying to rewind the same feeling)))))
Cursed from the start
And I could hide all of this behind curtains
But I seek not to carry them
Further
Hype for what’s next
